Mazda is working on a lot of ground-breaking projects right now. The company is committed to launching a compression-ignition engine that runs on gasoline in 2019, and we hear rumors of rotary-engined successor to the RX-8 powered by a brand-new Wankel. Neither of those are ready yet, so there wasn’t much Mazda-related news at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show. The coolest car the company had on display was this Cosmo, which recently participated in a rally from Hamburg to Berlin.
