Driven daily: Fiat Croma

When was the last time you saw a pre-facelift Fiat Croma out in the wild? About a month ago, I wouldn’t have known how to answer that — it’s been ages. But, a relatively rough example was waiting for me in a small town parking lot in southern France.

It’s been the victim of (or benefited from, depending on your point of view) an array of home-brewed repairs. You’ll note the front turn signals are taped on, the rear bumper is held on by electrical wire, and even the license plates are home-made, which would certainly be frowned upon in a big city like Paris or Nice. However, the nearly-new tires indicate the owner doesn’t skimp where it counts. That, or he’s not figured out how to make tires from scratch yet.
