We couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures of a remarkably clean Matra Jet 6 parked next to a modern-day Fiat 500. The 500 is one of the smallest cars you can buy new today, yet it completely dwarfs the Jet 6. The retro-inspired hatchback looks like a monster truck next to Matra’s composite-bodied coupe.
Built in the late 1960s, the Jet 6 was the ultimate evolution of the Matra Djet series. It used a 105-horsepower, 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Renault 8 Gordini. It could hit a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h), which means it was a little bit faster than a new 500 Abarth.
