A look at Porsche 917 #037

The Porsche 917 is one of the defining machines in what is arguably the most fantastic era in auto racing history. This is chassis #037 – a factory spare, now wearing the famous Martini Racing livery. We photographed the car at Watkins Glen in 2013 during the vintage race weekend in September. Now, only a few years late, we’re delighted to finally share them with you after pulling them out of the old backup hard drive.

For more on this particular car, see the feature in Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car, June 2014.

  1. i think i saw 917s race at the glen, early 1970’s. they did a 6 hour race on sarurday and the Can AM on sunday. would have finished better on sunday if their gas tanks had been larger. they had to stop to refuel and the other can am cars did not.
