On September 3rd, 1967, Swedish motorists went from driving on the left side of the road to driving on the right side. Nearly 50 years later, the historic day is still known as Dagen H, or H Day. Amateur photographers were out in full force to capture the chaos that followed immediately after the switch became official.
What car(s) can you identify in these images? What one(s) would you most like to have in your garage? We’d take the Renault 10 and one of the Volvo Amazons in the first picture.
The pictures above were originally published by Hemmings.
i will take the 63 chevy, all the checker cabs, tr4 or 250, beetle and r10.
Odd to see Checker cabs in Sweden, eh?
yes it is. maybe that is a story worth writing about.
Lots of American cars in Sweden – we’ll have more on that later this month (I just spent a week and a half there, so plenty of pics, too).
I’ll take the Amazon in the bottom left hand corner of the 1st photo.
