We’re traveling back to Lyon, France, during the 1960s for the second time, and we’re lucky enough to have high-res shots this week. It’s hard to tell precisely when these pictures were taken, but, to give you a vague idea, the CS 69 registration number on the Simca 1501 in the middle of the last shot was issued in 1967. The first two pictures were most likely taken in the mid-1960s.
What car(s) can you identify in the pictures below? What one(s) would you most like to have in your garage?
We’ve got dibs on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Renault 4 Super in the last picture. At first glance the Super might look like a run-of-the-mill Renault 4 equipped with a beefy bumper, but it’s actually fitted with a tailgate that’s hinged right above the rear bumper and a rear window that rolls down. Not a lot of them were built, and few are left today.
The photos above were kindly provided by the city of Lyon’s archives department.
