We’re traveling back to Lacaneau, a small town located not too far from Bordeaux in southwestern France. We’re pretty sure the picture below was taken in the late 1960s.
What car(s) can you identify? What one(s) would you most like to have in your garage? We’ll take the red base model Renault 4 without side quarter windows.
The picture was kindly provided by the Voitures des années 60 Facebook page.
an early 2CV in a foreground with no rear quarter windows too – however for me a couple of cars up the row is that a white Skoda 1000MB??? That is the discerning choice methinks
i will take both R8’s and if that is a fiat 850 coupe to the left of the Marche building i will take it also.
I’ll have the Opel Kadett CarAvan please. Isn’t a R4 without the 3rd window called an R3?
Some two-window models were R3s, right, but only a couple of thousand were built and they’re unspeakably rare today.
Renault sold two-window 4s up until the early 1970s, if memory serves. Some were base models, while others were commercial models aimed at business users.
At any rate, the one in the pic above is a 4. 3s were all painted gray.
