We’re making two stops today: We’re traveling back to Amsterdam, Holland, in the 1960s, and then fast-forwarding to the 1980s. Both pictures below were taken on the Herengracht, one of the city’s biggest canals.
What car(s) can you identify in the following images? What one(s) would you most like to have in your garage today?
From the first picture we’d take one of the Beetles or one of the Fiat 600s. From the second picture, we’d be happy with the green Saab 99 or the yellow Renault 4.
i will take all the beetles and the ghia from the 1st photo.
The red FIAT 600 and red Mini in pic 1 and the red Kadett in pic 2 – and I am not even a huge fan of red cars ha ha ha
The red Rekord P1 from the first picture, as well as the R10, and the mystery car from beneath the tarp look interesting (it can’t be a 600, it’s way smaller, even when compared to a 500).
Also, there’s a red Dodge Custom Royal Lancer there that certainly looks the part.
As for pic No. 2, it would have to be the R4.
Nice pics!
I was wondering that about the tarp – I guess we’ll never know, ha.
The R4 looks great. R4s are still common but most are late-model examples (like the one I bought a few weeks ago: https://ranwhenparked.net/2015/04/08/open-mic-whats-the-last-classic-car-that-youve-purchased/). 1970s and earlier ones have basically disappeared.
Maybe a Goggo? Though the wheel arches do seem different. If the picture has been taken 10 years later, I would have said AWS shopper.
I hadn’t noticed that!!! Some sort of microcar maybe?? Seems to have a quite squared off front?
The Isar and the PL17 please.
2nd picture: Green 99 turbo or the first series Allegro with the squared off steering wheel
