Ford surprised us at the Geneva Motor Show by bringing out one of the seven mk3 GT40s ever built.
The mk3 was essentially a toned-down version of the Le Mans-winning GT40. It featured a model-specific four-headlight setup, a longer rear end that allowed designers to shoehorn a small cargo compartment and a soft suspension setup that made the coupe more comfortable to drive off the track.
The GT40’s mid-mounted 4.7-liter V8 engine was de-tuned to approximately 305 horsepower. However, the GT40 mk3 was wildly expensive which partially explains why the number of examples built can be counted on two hands.
