The following picture was taken in 1974 as journalists from all around Europe arrived in Paris, France, after an epic trip that started above the Arctic Circle. The trip was Citroën’s way of introducing the CX to the press, and a club of enthusiasts is currently preparing to retrace the journey in order to celebrate the CX’s 40th birthday.
Aside from the dozen or so early CXs, what car(s) can you identify in the following images? What one(s) would you most like to have in your garage? Personally, we’d be tempted by either one of the two Beetles on the left side of the picture or the 404 taxi cab on the right.
i too will take the beetles, but go with the mini instead of the 404. looks like people trying to walk across this street which can not be easy.
It wasn’t easy then and I can tell you it hasn’t gotten any easier today.
The Ford Taunus 12M on the left would have been a rare site
Rare indeed, they were never big sellers. I’ve always liked the way they look.
The Citroen GS right behind the Mini Cooper parked on the right hand side of the procession of CX’s.
I believe that was part of the press trip, too – I think it was a technical support vehicle.
I see…then I will get one of the Peugeot 504’s heading in the opposite direction towards the Arc de Triomphe 🙂
