Steel wheels

Test your steel wheel IQ, seventeenth edition

Our “test your steel wheel IQ” series aims to share our passion for steel wheels and see how good our readers are at recognizing them.

Can you name the make and model that the following wheels come from? In some cases we have blacked out the logo on the center cap because it would have been too easy to guess otherwise. Also, there are several right answers for some of these wheels.

Have fun, and thanks for playing along.

  1. Here’s my guess:
    1.- Renault 6
    2.- ?
    3.- Renault Rodeo, perhaps.
    4.- Mk II VW Gold/Jetta
5.- Old Peugeot J5 van or one of its Fiat or Citroën siblings.
6.- Looks like a Niva to me.

    • 1. Not a 6 but close enough, I’ll take it.
      2. Hint: French.
      3. Not a Rodeo, but a Renault. Think bigger.
      4. Correct.
      5. Not a van, and German.
      6. Niva indeed.

    • 2. Not a Fiorino – think a French sedan.
      3. Not a Rodeo but a Renault indeed. It’s bigger than a Rodeo.
      4. Correct.
      5. Not a Ducato. Not a van, and it’s German.
      6. Niva is right!

  2. 1. Renault 5 (installed on a Renault 4)
    2, Peugeot 505
    3. Renault Estafette van
    4. VW Golf
    5. Mercedes G-wagen
    6. Lada Niva

  3. 1) Renault R-4, although that wheel can be found on a R5 too
    6) Lada Niva, too easy!
    5) Benz Gelandewhatevs
    4) Looks like a Fiat wheel, but the spokes are off. Maybe an Opel wheel.

    Dunno the rest
