Blue is one of the oldest colors in the automotive industry. It was offered on many pre-war cars built around the world and it even made a brief appearance on the Ford Model T before Henry Ford implemented his famous all-black policy.
Blue remained popular over the following decades and it has been associated with many different vehicles including Bugatti, Renault-Alpines, Gordini-tuned Renaults and rally-going Subarus. More recently, Volvo’s performance-focused Polestar arm has adopted a particularly attractive shade of light blue as its trademark color and the latest BMW M3 was introduced in Estoril Blue.
Which car do you think looks best in blue?
Ford Focus RS MK1 is a classic (future classic that is) Blue car.
I’m pretty sure that will become sought after. I think it will be difficult to find a clean one that hasn’t been tuned, raced, abused and what not.
They all look great, but even though it’s one of the most unassuming cars here, that Audi’s blue really makes its clean simple lines stand out – it’s a great shade of blue and a great photo too.
Also, I don’t know what those hip sixties people think they’re doing driving their Fiat 850 to the beach and leaving it parked there so they can post stylishly on rocks in their groovy outfits. By the time they get back to the car the salt air will have made it self-destruct from rust and they will be able to sweep it into a paper bag and carry it home.
Opel and Bugatti come best in blue factory shades….
